This bike belongs to a professor friend of mine. She has owned it for a few decades and for the last several years was hanging in her garage. After seeing a recent restoration of mine she asked if I could bring her Puch back into service.
I'm unsure of the model as the owner removed all of the logos years ago to deter theft. She opted to use the functioning German bottle dynamo system on a mountain bike she uses for commuting. The jockey wheels on the Cyclone GT RD were shot. I couldn't get the upper pulley spring back in as the "key" was bent. A friendly BF member sent a GT spring he found in his parts bin (thanks, balindamood!), but it suffered from the same bent key. I broke both trying to heat and bend them back. A Raleigh branded Suntour VT RD is working well in the Cyclone's place.
Some of the parts include:
- 1st gen. Suntour Cyclone
- Suntour Power Shifters
- Sugino Might Tour crank
- 70s Jim Blackburn rack
- Weinmann rims laced to Normandy Luxe Comp high-flange hubs
- Gippiemme 27.2 seat post
- SR stem and bars
- MKS Unique quill pedals
- Weinmann Carerra sidepulls
- early Dura Ace headset and cable clips
- new Kool Stop shoes and Pasela TG rubber
Anyone know the model? The seatpost lug has a "72" pressed in and the lower head tube lug has "BCM" pressed in.
