I got some nice floor racks off ebay last winter, one bike over the other. it does not take anymore flooor space than one bike.

here are a few pics from when I had them in my hotel last winter
the only problem is my apartment has these really weird 7 1/2ft ceiling so I can't really put a bike on top with exposed brake cables, or a MTB with a tall seatpost.
