helpful on recovery rides. helpful to diagnose potential overtraining syndrome. helpful to figure out whether you should attack on that hill or not.

the main reason I don't wear mine is I find it uncomfortable and am not really paying attention to any numbers but power these days, but that doesn't mean it isn't helpful.
