I remember when I was young eating huge bowls of cereal and I was hungry two hours later. fat and protien both will fill you up longer and with less calories then any carbs will.thats why it is easier to eat less calories on a low carb diet.
but I don't remember fruit doing it. but most of the complex carbs people eat these days are pretty worthless nutrition wise. this the bigget problem with the american diet most fo the foods are crap. all the processed and pre made foods. all the breads made with garbage grains. it is hard to afford the good foods. they cost so much more.
