Beginning in Glendale, or the Griffith Park region for a ride into the San Gabriels is a reasonable compromise for avoiding the worst of the city streets without having to drive very far. However, I'm not certain Angeles Crest Highway is open to traffic beginning in Pasadena. Anyone know?
