Memorial Park Crits - First race/intensity in 5 weeks. Better than expected.
My goal was to do absolutely no work until the end. I hid in every way imaginable. The ending sucked. People don't know how to race. slowed to 16 mph on a straight on the 2nd to last lap.
Last lap, a friend of mine, was right in front of me, I encouraged him to move up, and I was following his wheel. Laps are 1.2 miles. At the start/finish to begin the final lap, we get an opening and go. He's pulling, pretty quickly dies, I throw in everything I've got; I probably had 200m on the field at one point. Caught with 400m to go. Finished pretty much last.
When I started the attack, I knew it wouldn't work. I went anyways. Without any real training lately, the legs had a pretty distinct "I dont like this" feeling. Getting off the front was much much better than I expected though.
Looked at file: Max HR at the end was 206.. definitely the highest I've ever seen.
