I'm not sure where you see $5.

At any rate, most of the "hassle" comes from taking the tube out and putting it back in, which you will have to do anyway.

The only thing you have to do to patch is:

(1) Find leak

(2) Sandpaper

(3) Apply glue

(4) Dry

(5) Apply patch

It's really quite simple.
