Yep, Gangrel has it. My reading was my58vw was inexperienced and technically at fault. The other guy is at fault afterwards for attitude, even though I reckon he has reason to be. Let's be sure we know -- my58vw didn't go down. The other guy did, and hurt himself.

It's up to my58vw to decide what to do. And it looks like he has. So be it. If I was the other guy, well... I wouldn't put myself in the position because I hate group riding, or pacelining with people I don't know. But I think I'd be pretty crapped too.
