I've had a Forerunner 201 since they first came out and my wife and I use it for both running and cycling. The 201 is the rechargeable model with the PC interface. The battery powered one wasn't out at the time, but I think I would still go with the rechargeable one since the firmware can be upgraded via the PC interface. My reasons for purchasing:

One device can be used for both running and cycling. It can be set to display your pace in running mode (minutes per mile or km) or your speed in biking mode (mph, or kph). The screen has three separately customizable display areas where you can individually define the data set. For example pace, lap time, total time.

You don't need the handlebar mount. Take a foam noodle like the ones kids use in the pool, cut a two inch section off and put it on your handlebar, then strap the Garmin over the noodle.

I like that I can go on a ride, then take the Garmin off the bike and use it for my run immediately afterwards.

The user interface on the device itself is rather intuitive and informative. It will display a history of your runs, or the details of your last bike/run showing things like fastest pace, avg pace, pace for each mile. The screen is very legible and has a strong backlight for use at night.

The virtual partner feature is also kind of neat. You can program it to beep if your pace/speed goes over or below your chosen values.

Overall I've been very pleased with this unit and recommend it.
