We have a rather large apartment. I'm no sure of the sf but it has 2 living rooms. And we have 11 bikes (...I think...haha). So the front living room is now the bike room. We have 2 gravity stands holding 2 bikes each, sometimes a third bike leaning against the bottom bike on them. Another couple of bikes are in wheel stands. Another couple bikes leaning against walls. A recently used bike leaning against wall in hall.

Sometimes bikes can be found in other rooms: in the second bedroom where camping gear is stored, mtn bikes often stored in garden level basement, in sunroom in a trainer. etc.
