The picture above isn't completely accurate as the cattle guards you'll encounter on this ride have round bars which is a bit different to ride across. The one thing I remember about them is they were always in the worst possible spot, i.e. right after a turn, right at the foot of a climb. Basically anywhere that you'd like to maintain your current pace a cattle guard would appear to slow you down. Still, it was one of my more memorable rides last year and I knew I'd be returning.
