I haven't ridden to work in a while, because I hadn't *been* to work in a while. I had a mini-vacation to West Virginia, then I attended a conference in DC. So... very little bike riding recently.
This morning was beautiful. I got up on time, had the bike packed, and out the door I went. Less than two miles down the road, I dropped the chain... really dropped it... on the pavement. I pulled over and watched several cars run over it before I could retrieve it.
It had broken (with less than 3000 miles) at a regular link. Had I been carrying a spare master link, I would have been on my way. Instead, I called my wife for a ride home. I am buying a spare master link (and a new chain) later tonight.
So, my spares count is: one tire, two tubes, one chain link, several allen-bolts, and two spokes. Should I start carrying spare cables also?
