I'm sorry that low carb didn't work for you or your friends. The people I know that failed, failed because they thought they could eat low carb, lose their weight and health problems, then return to eating crap again. No surprise that the weight and health problems returned.
You can quote stuff all you want, I can quote rebuttals to all of it, and we're right back where we started.
I gauge my success by how I feel, how I look in the mirror, my performance in all my activities and by how happy I am eating the way I do.
I'll stress again, I won't try to sell you something you dont want, but I'm not sure why you're in this thread arguing with people that are obviously intrested in following their own path.
If you don't like bacon, don't eat it. If you don't like low carb threads, don't read them. Simple. And the best thing is this...if I die from eating like this, do oyu really give a crap? That's what I thought

Some of us can't eat the way you do, and have found viable alternatives. Let us live with that. Or die with that. Just be happy that we're happy
Great response.
I am pretty passionate about this topic.
I thought I was ate pretty healthy based on what the government, medical community and the media told us. I did a lot of research and reading and have determined that most of what we are told is crap. I am mad that I thought I was eating healthy.

Based on a lot of research from a lot of different sources I have come to a few conclusions: (1) foods with hydrogenated oils are unhelathy, (2) consuming more than about 10% of your calories from meat is unhealthy, (3) dairy is unhealthy, (4) refined and processed carbohydrates are unhealthy. The inverse of this is true: (1) veggies are healthy, (2) fruit is healthy, (3) legumes are healthy, (4) nuts (in moderation) are healthy, (5) most fish is contanimated and prepared unhealthy, but under certain circumstances is healthy, and (6) whole grains are healthy. Is it ok to eat stuff on the unhealthy list? Yes. But, you should make a conscious decision to do so and weigh the pros and cons on your own. What drives me nuts about Atkins and other similar diets is that it directs you to eat stuff on the unhealthy list and tells you that you will be improving your health.

What do I eat? Do you care? I am a vegan. Feel free to tee off on that if you like.
