Allegro was a 70-80's bike boom brand that were built in Japan, I believe. You see them around the Vancouver area a lot, and the Cap's sticker on there explains why - they were one of the biggest bike chains in this province at that time. The company that imported and labeled them may have been western Canadian, but don't know for sure. Most of their models were low-end recreational type things, but constructed well with solid components. The brand was around until about 1986, I think. I've seen many early mountain bikes (horizontal toptubes with bullmoose handlebars) with their name on them, but nothing with indexed gears.
