you'll need to downsample the pictures somehow. You can crop off unneeded margins, and/or reduce the pixel count (pixels/inch) to get the pic down to 100k. Your camera or scanner software has the functionality, probably. 72 p/in is gonna be grainy probably, 96 will probably work okay (more is better for image recognition, but occupies geometrically more space).
