It's good that they stopped and checked, a hit-and-run probably would have ended up being much worse. Staying there and getting out and checking says a lot about how she handled the situation, whatever her role may have been (which I assume is minimal, again), there's plenty of adults (and people in general) who wouldn't have done even that much.
