As to nurses, whenever I hear of a health care professional coming with something along the lines of "Dump 'em. He did it to himself" the word "calloused" comes right to mind -- at least partly because of the time I put in at nursing school. Frankly, I suspect any health care professional who isn't familiar with that all-too-real stereotype has either not been paying attention or practices in some alternate universe.
Well, you've forgotten that I have said here that I would rather that people rode bicycles without a helmet than not ride at all; the benefits are great from riding. But every time someone comes up here and says something positive about helmets, you guys come out like bees trying to sting him or her. Helmets are good personal protective equipment, and do provide protection from head injuries. MHLs are not the best way to promote helmets, but have been shown to be effective in at least one country (Sweden) in reducing these kinds of injuries for kids.
