I remember way back when I took driver's ed. This was at a Catholic high school, which I suppose was not subject to the same politically correct rules as the public schools. Besides reading the driver's manual, most of the course consisted of viewing film clips of some of the most grisly accident scenes you could possibly imagine. Unfortunately, the class was scheduled for right after lunch. The instructor's primary contribution to the proceedings was to walk up and down the aisles, frequently repeating the comment "That's reality, boy". Forty five years later, that quote still resonates loudly in my brain. I believe most of the students became better drivers, though, as a direct result of this teaching method.
