I've been looking at wheelsets and narrowed it down to either the Blackset Race Ten Wheelset from BWW (bicyclewheelwharehous.com) at 1451g for $350 shipped and the Bike Soul (bikesoul.com) S2.0 Low Profile Wheelset at 1330g for $480 shipped. I'm leaning towards the Bike Soul wheels but that extra $130 could go towards a new track crank...

Thanks,

Well friend... it seems like you are on a skeletal budget. I would not recommend the wheel choices you are proposing.
I do beg your pardon, I am unfamiliar with those brands, but to get a sub 1400g set of wheels for less than $1500 tells me you will be replacing those wheels very soon.

I think DT Swiss make some cheap options, and possibly American Classic.
If you have such small amounts of money, you are going to have to get heavier wheels... you pay for what you get.
300 dollar wheels are going to get rusted spokes, weak chinese ball bearings.. e.t.c

Mmmmm, actually.... a cheap light option is Bontrager actually. I remember getting a set of Race Lites for around 300 bucks back in the day when they were a new comer to the market about 11 years ago.
. They weren't the strongest wheels, but you will get a level of quality control and swiss spokes that are bladed.
Rolf, Mavic, Bontrager my friend.. and Shimano (but they will be heavier at that price point) Maybe American Classis, but I dont know anything about American Classics other than that some forum people respect them.

Dont buy cheap crap, you will only need to buy better wheels within a year, in which case you would have wasted 400 bucks.

Only one way man, heavy wheels, and just train harder.. thats the poor man's option.....
