1. In front of a garage door, preferably white;

2. Driveline side out and chain on big chainring

3. Cranks and pedals level; and

4. No visible valve stems. Exception - if tires have prominant lettering, valvestems must be at the 1200 position (because that way the tire lettering is readable - and you know to align your tire labels and valvestems, right?)
