boy, that bites....

Luckily my boss and all of my coworkers are supportive of my bike commuting. Only once did someone in my building say something that *could* have been construed as negative. On a rainy day this guys said to me "I can always tell when you get to work before me because I can see tire tracks in the hallway." He wasn't trying to be mean or anything, just making conversation. So I took it for what it was and said "Well, suppose I could drive a car and drip oil in the parking lot instead..." we both laughed.

Monument Man, I'd be willing to bet that your boss would balk when you asked for a copy of the approved modes of transportation to work. If he gave you one you'd have an official document to show the local newspaper, or better yet, an official document to produce when you submit the purchase of a Ford Focus for reimbursement. Or at least deduct it from your taxes! Likely he wouldn't give you one. He's just trying to assimilate you.
