Look, it's fine if you want fashionable clothing and don't mind if it's expensive. The reason everyone is so focused on the helmet is that helmets are worn for the safety of your head, not for fashion. I'm glad that you aren't forsaking the helmet entirely for the sake of fashion, but you also have to make sure that any "alternatives" are actually a good choice.
