I don't think I'll go out today. Maybe, I don't know.
Anyway, I did a ride yesterday the Share the Road /Jim Warmowski Memorial Ride.
He was Naval Officer that died in his fiance's arms on the side of the road in 2002.
I rode from the house to the corner to meet up with the boss and a few people from the shop and then out to 220 and 17. From there we rode down to the place of Jim's death for a short rememberance with kind words and taps.

I did better this year than last, didn't plan on going long on my fixie last year. I wsn't too bad untill my turn on the front closing on a little rise towards the end of Decoy, just shy of 17. I might have been able to get back on after the turn north but, I had slowed a little to help someone else that dropped off harder than I did. I was trying to keep the group in sight while giving him a chance to catch back up to me, that never happened.
I caught back up at the gas station at 16 in Green Cove. Last year I turned off at 315 and headed home. This time I made it almost out to 218 in Penny Farms before falling off the back again. The group was headed out to Thunder Rd and I thought for a second that I'd get back on again near the light at 16 and 218 and gave chase for a few minutes before giving up and turning around and heading home.
When I got home and downloaded the ride I realized that I rode a third of the way to Thunder Rd before turning around. In other words, why turn around if I was so close? There was no way that I was going to stay on even if I could have gotten back on.
60 miles, two weeks straight in the saddle, 600 miles
