Shimano 7-speed cog spacing center to center is 5.0 mm. Shimano 8-speed cog spacing is 4.8 mm. Campagnolo 8-speed cog spacing is 5.0 mm.
An 8-speed cassette will not fit on a 7-speed freehub.
