As said before, ramp it up slowly. you can do it. I went from having back surgery and one leg being 1/3 smaller than the other to 28 inch quads. I sprint, I go to the velodrome, I ride to the ocean and back. you will have to vary your rides, hurt yourself then the next day go for a small ride to recover with. Keep the body guessing.
Get OUT of the seat and sprint. Eat better, turn left when it's time to turn right for home, ride in the mornings, ride at night. Keep varying it and add a couple miles at a time. But really, get out of the seat and pedal harder. Fuel the engine for speed.
You will have to commit to gaining speed for YEARS. This will not happen in one season. I'm on season 3 of seriously doing this. I'm maintaining 35+kph on the flats at 90+ rpm. My next goal is climbing.
What is your next goal?
how many miles a season were you riding?
