I had no clue things other then platform pedals existed, my shins are still riddled with dents from slipping off those pedals and shinguardless soccer.
They certainly suck but I tend to find that its dumb when kids have nice stuff, shoes, clothes, cars. Bad bikes build character and make us appreciate us nice one's even more.
