The BoB would weigh about 9 - 10 lbs. more than my rack and panniers. Since my total touring load is about 20 lbs. this would be an increase of ~50%. Clearly the OP of this thread is planning on carrying much more stuff and the BoB may well be best for him. But for me the added weight and the complications with shipping to/from the trip make it an undesirable choice.
