I suggest that you don't worry about it at all. Your friend will work out his solutions on the fly the same way everyone else does. Don't get too worried and don't spend time before the ride scaring him with all the possible dangers. If he has questions he'll ask them. Just go ride with the guy, and try not to drop him.
