Not sure what chain ring, cog setup you ordered with your ss Brommie. Mine was 54tx12t which was in the 70's gear inches. I found i wanted it in the 60's. A Surly cog slips right on(13t in my case) The Brompton cog has a spacer on either side,the Surly cog is a bit thicker so you would replace one of the spacers with a thiner one which all bike shops would carry. This way you get the chainline right. One tooth more doesnt require adding any links to chain.

I ordered it with the lowest (-18%) available gear, yielding just under 61 gear inches. That puts it in the same rough range as the Strida (~56 gear inches), making the pair well matched for his-n-hers outings and ridable when we visit my family in the hilly bits of California.
Just a week in and...waiting..for..the...Brompton...is...agony.

(I have to keep reminding myself, when I
think I'm having a bad day, to remember the voyage of the Endurance.) Taking to the streets on the Strida takes my mind off the calendar...and the clock.
