I'll tell you why it's nothing but a big toss to pronounce foreign names using foreign accents:
We only hear people putting on the "fancy" accents from southern and western Europen regions.
We never hear people like Orsati using a Chinese accent when discussing an Asian sportsperson.
Nor do we hear people like Orsatti using a an Indian accent when reading out a subcontinent batting line-up.
And we rarely hear Eastern European accents because they're not as "sexy" as the French, Spanish, Italian or Greek accents.
We never hear the French or other Europeans putting on an American accent to say "Lance Armstrong", or an Aussie accent to say "Robbie McEwan"
IT IS INCORRECT AND A BIG PRETENTIOUS TOSS
(hmmm, "pretentious toss", is that a tautology?)
