I guess I'm just not seeing what the benefit to having one side platform and one clipless versus having the platform all the way around the clipless mechanism (except that the mechanism in the 324 is probably more exposed). I know it's not hard to flip over to the right side (I do that now all the time with my clips/straps on one side), it's just that I don't like having to take the 10-20 seconds or whatever of coasting required to do so in heavy traffic. That's one of (if not the) main reasons for me to want to go clipless from the cages I have now. If the SPD m424 won't work for shoes with recessed cleats that's something else (or if the mechanism sticks up far enough about the platform that it'd make uncomfortable bumps in my shoes when I tried to wear regular shoes).
