Just kind of coordinate the position with the position of the the magnet with the position of the transmitter to get inside the maximum distance allowed. Usually, different positions of the magnet will yield different gaps. Less gap is better so long as the two don't collide. I've used several Cat Eyes, and they are a bit more forgiving on gap than the x-mart brands.
