No, clamping it in the alternate position would
INCREASE the shift-ratio. This is a way to make the old DA8 levers work with new derailleurs. You have the opposite configration. Just use modern 9-spd levers with your 8-spd Dura-ace derailleur and be done with it. You'll only end up with 8-positions on the lever because the limit-screws will block out the final click.
