Veloce Velo (whose owner posts here from time to time) has moved their road bike shop from Issaquah to Mercer Island, Wa. Apparently the old location will focus on mountain bike; the road bikes are moving to Mercer Island.

I'm leaving my mistakes in so his corrections make sense -- but apparently my statement here that the were *moving* the road bike shop is incorrect; they're going to have road bikes in both locations.]

It's about time - the last bike shop on Mercer Island was more than 20 years ago, and this is obviously convenient for the folks on MI or people out for a ride around the island or commuting across it.

I went to the grand opening today -- nice store, several manufacturers showed up with displays (Felt, MadFiber, Giordano, SRAM, etc.). Their clothing and accessories are not yet as fully stocked as their old store was, but I assume they're working on it.

Appears from the store, and from talking to sales guy, that they are not going to be a Specialized dealer any more. They apparently are too close to Gregg's territory (Bellevue).

The sales guy said they were going to have 16 to 20 brands of bikes -- I saw on the floor Felt, Pinarello, Wilier, Ridley, Cyfac, Salsa, Civia, Moots, Civia and maybe some others. Mostly higher end road bikes.

I had good experiences at their Issaquah store so am looking forward to shopping at this one. I just need to harrass their owner into carrying a better selection of serious commuter gear (rain gear, lighting, etc.). Nobody on the East Side does a good job of that.
