What I find interesting is the clothes they are wearing in the bottom picture. I see jeans, sweat tops, down jackets, back packs, etc. I didn't see one set of "cycling clothes" so it goes to show we don't really need them.

Also, look at the large number of the riders out for the club ride. It must be a couple of hundred as they go all the way back to the rear of the photo.
