Ha! Um, is that comfortable?

What's up with all these extreme bicycles? It's either hunched forward or reclined backward! Neither has a great balance of practicality and comfort. I don't get why "road" and "mountain" bikes are so popular. They not very suitable for general purpose utility/transportation/commuting.
