I would imagine the Merckx is going to be a more aggresive geometry with tighter clearances. Might only be able to ride it with tubular tires. In fact it will probably ride poorly without tubulars. The Paramount will be a more road worthy bike if you are going that route. A Paramount is the King of all track bikes in my book.
