I believe the 'Strada' on the back of the crank arms simply means race or road. NR and SR cranksets were very simialr and the difference wil be what the chainwheels looked like.
I think he was going to switch the Ritchey stem out, buy yeah, if you do have to dispose of the brakes, I'd take those off your hands as well, saving you the trouble of putting them in the garbage bin. Might even pay shipping.

NR/SR are identical save for the chainrings, and that is what his looks like. Can't see the chainrings to tell which they are though.
