"Build" is a generic engineering term used to refer to an assembly of parts that can be assembled in different configurations. Software comes in builds. Cars and motorcycles come in builds. Circuit boards come in builds. It's a perfectly reasonable use of the word. Conversely, It would be ridiculous to call your Ikea furniture a build just because you built it. It's the design that matters, or rather, the assembly plan. Usually a build is simply the design itself, but it can be used for an instance of a build.
I nominate myself for most boring comment ever.
