Car free is pretty old hat for me since my mom never had a car when I was growing up. But my best friend is a shopaholic and can carry a truly shocking amount of shopping onto public transport.

It does help that I don't like shopping. I order the stuff I need online and quickly get rid of the old stuff because I don't like organizing and keeping track of stuff. My two exceptions are books and DVDs. Those I like to reread or watch over again. My mom is disappointed she never managed to pass along her love of useless little shelf ornaments. Geez I hate dusting those things. Each Christmas she buys me a ridiculous and truly tacky statuette. This year's geegaw: cat lounging sensuously on a cushion that looks like an after dinner mint. I haven't managed to offload it yet. I must find a spectaculor method of destruction for it!
