Ok ride report.

Today I went and got a computer for the bike (choose the mavic wintec skewer system, nice a clean (and rather aerodynamically shaped (that is important you know). I took the bike on the bike trail near my house today for a nice 15 mile loop to test out the bike... two things are aparent.

1. The bike is redicuously fast
2. The bike really works your quads

I averaged 24 MPH on the flat 2 stop course with almost no traffic. I pushed threshold a couple of times, but was plugged in about 24 - 25 MPH the whole time. The bike does 20 MPH with no problem, actually once going even 23 MPH is easy. I was able to push 30 MPH right about threshold and hold it there to quite some time, I think on a flat course 26 MPH right at theshold is a reality. I am getting much better with the aero bars, not very wobbly at all as long as I keep a smooth spin. The wheels just hum along at speed, it is one awsome feeling. One qualifying statement was the 15 mile loop was not including warmup.

One thing that also was apparent is that the geometry kills my quads. That is fine, it just means I need more time working on the b ike to build up my quads. I feel that I actually lose a little power on the bike (need to be power fitted) but it is made up with aerodynamics. I am also feeling a little tension in my arm just below my sholder, one of those things that will go away with time on the bike.

I was able to sprint after the end of the ride, I hit 34 MPH in the aero posistion... very nice. The bike is truly as fast as it looks. The first real test for my engine and the bike comes this week. I am going to ride the former "lake mathews time trial", my first time trial ever 8 months ago. I ran a 46 minute time over a 14.2 mile (a little over 20k) course at about an 18.5 average. On two of the hills I was in teh granny gear. I am looking for a 7 minute improvement to under 40 minutes (the record time is 39 minutes last year) at about 22.5 MPH average. I think I have that in me, I will report back then.

The bike is a blast, and gets 50 questions everywhere I ride it.
