Well, well. I thought I was done with this problem and ready to cruise again. I made a great new brake strap and painted real nice. I got a neat new chainring and repacked the crank using my wheel-bearing packing tool. I re-cabled the shifter assembly. I replaced my fender brackets with trick twisted fender brackets($). I got it all back together and it looks dynomite, on the stand.

There is something wrong with the hub. Once I got it back together I tried to adjust it and shift it. It does first gear, but it clicks. First used to be the silent gear. It won't shift to second. When the rod is pushed in enough to engage third, the gear this happened in, the hub locks up completely. I guess that I need to get a new hub or find somewhere that sells the cartridge that goes inside. Does anyone know who sells the cartridge in the US. I have the service manual for the hub that lists the part: Y-33S 90710, but I can't find anyone to sell it.

This is the part number of the cartridge with the longest axle. I figured the hub bodies are all the same and that these are offered in different axle lengths for different applications. I bolt a trailer hitch onto my axle and the new fender brackets only work on the axle and not on the pannier brazons.
