I found a seatpost that worked that came off my Nishiki Competition of the same era. I put some decent brake pads on the front and rode it around a bit. The Gran Tourismo actually surprised me with how well it did work, but I still will likely put a LeTour, Crane of SunTour VGT on it. I got the dust caps off the Nervar crank, only destroying one. The chrome is kind of pitted, sad because Schwinn chrome is pretty indestructible. The stem loosened, that is a good sign. If I do keep it, I will dismantle the wheels, polish the daylights out of the original hubs and rebuild the wheels with SS spokes and rims with Presta drilling and a bead that will allow higher tire pressures.
It did not ride as heavy as it felt when I lifted it. It was a good solid cruiser, that's for sure. I will have to start sampling Testors paint for some spot touch up.
Mine is missing the headbadge. Anyone got a photo of the correct one to aid me in my search?
