My best wishes as well. A key component is being sure to strengthen your abdominal muscles. Post surgery, for a couple of months, you'll need to do log rolls when turning over/changing positions in bed -also as part of the routine in getting out of bed; having strong abs great facilitates the movement. I also found that tightening the muscles when standing up also really helped vis-a-vis reducing any pain associated with the movement.

I work on my abs daily and have for years, using a variety of techniques.
