This is the issue that some need to get over... when the speed differential is high, you are NOT part of traffic... you are merely an obstacle to be avoided.
Sorry gene, you and I have always disagreed on this. Using your logic, all SMVs are not part of traffic in cases where the flow of traffic has a higher speed differential.
Indeed, that would mean that an 18 wheeler creeping up a grade at 40mph isn't part of traffic in relation to the cars zipping past at 75-80. We are traffic AND obstacles.
