hold on a sec, there chipper. you're telling us now that you HAVE ridden on shoulders of high speed roads.

good on ya.

remember, chip for the future - its illegal for a bicyclist to take the lane on an federal interstate highway.

time the crossovers, watch your 180 and you've fine. sometimes its dicey in bad viz- i was riding I-5 south to Portland in a pissy rainstorm and ground fog was limiting visibility to about 80 feet.

this are from a trip to eastern washington in october, and the vis in these pictures is better than the trip to portland. I have my most sincere doubts any of the oh so proud lane takers would have been unwaveringly taking the lane on these interstates with a 50+mile per hour speed differential, low viz, and expectations of motorists that bicycles will not be in the travel lanes.

but the internet is a great place to be a superhero eh?

i have my most sincere doubts about the unwavering bluffery. as to ian and his mock feelings of outrage, i asked if it was in the USA. Please, Ian, ride 5,000 miles on tour in the USA and get back to us about the whole 'uncompromisingly taking the lane' thing.
