this might be a can of worms but

i am really starting to wonder if power is all that much better as a training tool than HR. its obviously a better testing tool. power doesnt lie about performance improvement, but i am wondering (dont hurt me guys, i'm just thinkin out loud), if the point of training is to apply targeted precice physiological stress to different systems with the goal of making them more efficient/stronger, then arent physiological metrics (like HR) gonna be better guides for targetting those stresses?

sure everyone points to improvements from training with power, but i wonder how much of the improvement everone touts is due to training with power itself, vs training w power making it easier to compare objective, universal power metrics to mark progress/show off...

or maybe some combo of the two...

thoughts?

i dunno...
