It's not about what the cards made of, it's about the credit line and perks. Same reason the AMEX Centurion (the 'black card') exists. Except there's no application or annual fee...you just have to spend 250,000 a year on it, and you have to be invited (and you have to be both rich and famous for that to happen).
OTOH, there's no credit limit...
There actually is a limit of $100,000 per month on many of them. Something that has happened somewhat recently as credit companies have started to tighten up. There is also a $5000 annual fee
