Yep, I owned and rode a Brooks Professional for 2 seasons when I wa a teenager. I regularly treated it with Proofide and whacked it with a rubber mallet as advised by my Dad, to accelerate the break-in process, but it never softened up appreciably, while my butt remained sore, so I gave up.
