I don't think it will be too short - he's a few inches shorter than me and the frame borderline small for me.

Just took it down the road a little. Looks like it's going to need a middle chain ring - some badly worn teeth are causing some major chain skip. The cassette will need to get replaced soon also. But, overall it was a nice ride.
